Delft, Holland éS Game of SKATE

Last Saturday, Outlawz skate shop in Delft, Holland (close to the Hague) held the Finals of their in-store éS Game of SKATE. Did we just say in-store? Yep, although the shop is small, the front area has a smooth marble floor, so every time it rains, kids come hang out and skate. What started as a series of informal “joke” sessions turned into a serious éS Game of SKATE.

On three Saturdays in a row, locals went head-to-head to qualify themselves for the Finals on March 25. On that day, 16 skateboarders entered. Measuring about seven feet by 12 feet, the riding area is quite slippery and, of course, extremely tiny, causing some riders to crash into the shoe wall or the clothing racks more than once!

The game started at 5:30 pm and the last round was held around 7:30 pm. The “losers” Final round pitted Buddy Swinkels against Hugo Snelooper. Getting only two letters, Buddy won the game, landing himself in 3rd place.

The Finals pitted Marc-Peter Kooistra against Edinho Smidt, both who are sponsored by Outlawz. It was quite a long game, but Edinho got all five letters first and Marc-Peter had only three letters at the end, firmly seating himself in the top spot!
