No More Bread and Cheese!
Monday, Aug 14, 2006 · Garry

In early June, 2006, the éS team hightailed it over to Paris, France to do a signing and demo at the V7 Teenage Tour Finals, attend the éS Spring 2007 sales meeting, film their asses off and do a little sightseeing.

During the demo, which went down on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Cosanostra Skatepark, éS team riders Rick McCrank, Javier Sarmiento, Nyjah Huston, Bobby Worrest and Mike Barker took the street course by storm for an excited mob of 600-800 kids who packed the stands. éS Team Manager Jay Maldonado, Nyjah’s dad and Scuba Steve caught it all on film. A hectic 90-minute signing followed until we ran out of posters.

Justin Eldridge joined us the day after the demo. Seems he had to attend his Theory pro shoe release party at Val Surf. Unfortunately, Justin hurt himself on his first day in Paris, when he flipped over a rail. P.J. Ladd also showed up for a few. We all went to the éS Spring 2007 sales meetings, where we hung out, listened to the presentations and showed support for the brand. Everyone seemed to have a good time–P.J. and Rick were even spotted cuttin’ a rug on the dance floor.

For our sales meeting ender, everyone–including éS team riders, sales reps and distributors–met up in front of the hotel around 7:30 p.m. and skated over en masse to the Eiffel Tower for a group photo shoot. We’re talking over 150 skaters, pal, which amounts to nothing less than a huge mob practically taking over the city. After the photo, a big circle of skaters formed around éS owner Pierre André and Don Brown, who busted out freestyle tricks for the amused masses.

The éS team spent the next several days filming and shooting photos on the stairs, hubbas, ledges and banks of Paris. In fact, we bagged footage for the upcoming éS video every day. Also, keep an eye out for an article on the trip in Sugar magazine.

Many of our off-board hours were spent visiting places like the Museum of Photography, going on boat rides down the scenic Seine river, and seeing plenty of other sights. By the end of the trip, everyone was all tuckered out and sick of gobbling down the never-ending array of bread and cheese sandwiches that the City of Lights has to offer. It was finally time to head home to the good ol’ U.S.A. for some real food.
Until next time, chomp on this!
