Fernside Park Skate Comp Report
Tuesday, Oct 24, 2006 · Garry
The annual 2006 Fernside Skate Competition was held on Sunday, October 22 at the new Waterloo Fernside Skate Plaza in Sydney, Australia under cool and cloudy Spring conditions. Sometime after 12:00 noon, the sun finally showed up and turned on a perfect afternoon for skateboarding, with 300-plus kids in attendance throughout the day. The contest kicked off with the Under 12 division, followed by Under 16 and The Skater HQ Girls Jam.
After a free skate session and product toss, the Under 18 skaters got underway with the Open and Sponsored divisions wrapping up the day. Regardless of the inconsistent weather, the skating was fast and furious all day from 8:30 a.m., when the Juniors first threw down, all the way until dusk, when the Sponsored Division Finalists absolutely destroyed the hubba and surrounding ledges and rails.

An assortment of entertainment–ranging from break dancers and various food stalls plus a temporary tattoo parlor–were set up around the park’s perimeter to keep skaters and the consistent passing traffic of non-skaters stoked. A great day was had by all, some amazing skating went down, and the support for this park from not only the skateboarding community but also the residents of South Sydney proves that support for skateboarding is alive, strong and kicking when it comes to councils supplying well-designed facilities for the youth.
A huge thanks goes out to Alek Fisher, Cameron Sparkes, Waterloo George, Kizza, Shane Brown, Jai Martin, James Winter and to all the supporting sponsors for helping to make this event possible: South Sydney Youth Services, City of Sydney Council, PSC Skateboarding, Colony Skateboards, Insight Clothing, Virgin Blue Airlines, Virgin Mobile, Skater HQ and éS Footwear.

10/25/06 at 03:43fuck es. All of your shoes look just like other companies except for the accel and the accel plus, which you took off your line. PJ and Silas are the only good, original skaters left on your team and you guys just go with the trends.
