Monday, Nov 27, 2006 · Garry
  1. Z-Boys (1970s) They wrote the book on gnar.
  2. Mark Gonzales (1980s) He tore street skating a new eyehole.
  3. Tony Hawk (1990s) He took vert all the way to the 900.
  4. Danny Way (2000s) He rollercoaster-sized launch ramps and quartepipes.
  5. Bob Burnquist (2000s) He made all kinds of insane loops, flips and jumps.
  6. Who do you think are the most innovative skateboarders ever? Why?

As far as street skating…
Eric Koston - Can skate anything, and a skate legend often debated as best street skater ever.
Mark Gonzales - Creative, first handrail
Rodney Mullen - Rides a skateboard in a completely different way far better than anyone
Tom Penny - original UK ripper, style…
Jamie Thomas - enough said

I’d have to say that at the present P-Rod is doing stuff that other skaters wish they could do. I think Paul is possibly the best street skater ever.

What about Rodney. Without him there wouldn’t be any of the flip tricks we see today.

I think P Rod and Chris Cole are up at the top at the moment. Along with Daewon and Daewon. But you write a list then remember a whole other bunch like Alex Carolino, PJ Ladd, Ruben Garcia.

I think it’s impossible to decide on 5.

PJ Ladd most definately. He could be listed in so many things
5 techiest skaters
5 best video parts of all time
5 best lines in a video
5 best styles

anything…just watch WHL NOT ON THE COMPUTER

Bring it to the TV or the plasma or HD jhoant. Then watch it over and over until you know all the tricks in the exact order and get inspired.

Mike Taylor too, Evan Hernandez. wheres Evan ?
i think those three kids where pretty good in the video IN BLOOM i think they really inspired a lot of kids to start skating.
lets give it up to Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney, Pat Dufy, Danny Way, Mark Gonzales practicly changed skateboarding.
Gonz i think he has a lot to show to the world, his KROOKED video is really good and i hope he keeps up the good work.

PJ Ladd …

His wonderful horrible life part was awesome … i first saw it in 2005 ,but there is no part that could be compare to his … up to now …

But that was 2002 ; there were many innovators before ,look at the H-street guys ,Gonz (proving fun is a part of professional skating too) , Rodney … (whole PlanB posse )

The list is endless ,as any skater around the world with his unique skating contributes to the growth of skateboarding itself.

brent atchley is pretty tight, he looks at things differently than other skaters, and he has an insanely flowy style. danny montoya make really tech shit look good, watch his one step beyond part, doing stuff thats sicker than stuff these days. cooper wilt is really fun to watch to, always has a unique trick or spot that gets me hella hyped. paul shier is super tech and super creative all at once, and you gotta love that sketchy-but-all-so-smooth-steez. and lets say evan schiefelbine, nice style, nice bag of tricks, sick part in newest blind, i like that guy.

i don’t think being really really good at switch skating makes you innovative, granted it proves you’re talented…. but i don’t think it is the only thing that embody’s innovation.

ya switch is not innovative nowadays. Marc johnson was a good call, remember his 1st shoes with emerica? those were dope. As far as more innovaters: jeremy klein, skateboarding, drinking and flames? i cant think of a better combo
