Rick McCrank Talks Back Vol. 5

mr.accel: Would you ever think bout taking a trick off of El Toro?
I don’t really plan the tricks that I do, I usually just end up at a spot and see what happens. If one day I do end up at El Toro, I think I might ollie up the stairs.
jaxterx10: There was a poll on crailtap about whether you should move from Canada or stay home. Which do you think would be better for you?
I think that staying home here in Vancouver is what’s best for me and my daughter.
lannyfrommaine: Does being colorblind affect your skating at all?
Not at all.
abreide: I think you’re certainly overdue for Skater of the Year, and I hope you get it this year. What other pro do you think is most deserving?
Marc Johnson.
Josh P: Can Josh P. ollie a three stair?
Yes, he can–he just needs to try.
andy buffelen: What is the best place to eat in Vancouver?
Budgie’s Burritos.
farrotman: Let’s say that skateboarding did not work for you, but you were still able to pick any career that you wanted to do. What would you do, and why?
If I knew the answer to that question, I would sleep a lot easier, my friend.
Hammerslay: What is it like to ride a moose to work in Canada?
I imagine it would be painful.
Hammerslay: Does Canada have an army?
Yes, we do, but our army is mainly used to help other countries find peace.
Hammerslay: Why do you pronounce “about” like “aboot.”
I don’t do that, but most Canadians do. I have no idea? Why do Americans pronounce “roof” like “ruff”?
[Garry: Or why does everyone pronounce “lawyer” like “loy-yer?” That sucks! Does anyone practice loy?]
Reno: The éS team has changed a lot over the past few years. What’s made you stay on the team for so long, and how do you feel about the changes?
The changes were tough. It’s hard to see friends go, but in the end, I made new friends. I’ve stayed on the team for so long because it’s the best.
Enjoi, yeS?: You own your own art gallery, so I assume you’re a big fan of art. What types of art do you like besides skating? Do you make music? Can I get a hold of or view what you create?
I like all art forms–even the wacky performance art. No one knows what I do or if I even do anything.
Skautism: What do you think of my decision to skate in overalls? I couldn’t do anything at all before that, and now they’re letting me land my first tricks!
A wise man once told me, “Wear what you dig.” Those words can mean many, many things and ring true.
Alex: What is a ghetto bird? Can you do them?
I thought a ghetto bird is a helicopter? Is there a skate trick called that? Yeah, I can do ‘em.
G - rant: Who is your favorite artist of all time?
I have almost no favorites of anything, so I can’t really answer that. I do like Diane Arbus’ photography a lot, though.
The interview is over. Don’t ask any more questions.
