You turned pro a while back.
Yeah, actually I think it was at the end of 2003 or at the start of 2004.
What made you decide to do that?
I didn’t really suggest it at all, it was just that Cliché thought it would be good for Australia, and that I deserved it.
Do you do much flatground skating?
Yeah, all the time. Just whatever--manuals, flatground. It’s good, because you can just skate it for hours.
What is the best part of skateboarding?
You can do whatever you want.
What is the best part of éS?
Everything--the team, all of the designs. It’s not all crazy--it’s pretty mellow.
What does the ICCC stand for?
Inner City Carp Crew. It’s just me and these guys that hang out--my Adelaide homie crew. There are four of us. It’s sort of like a fishing thing.
What kind of fishing do you guys do? Where?
My dad’s got a boat, so we just go out on the ocean or just fish in this lake. We catch snapper, and just carp and red fin in the river.
How big was the biggest fish you’ve ever caught?
A massive carp, I’d say roughly two-and-half shoes long.
Shoes?
Yeah, two-and-a-half size 10 shoes.
Which is your favorite beer?
I’d say Stella.
Have you ever been attacked by a kangaroo?
No, never (laughs).
Don’t people get attacked by them?
Yeah, out in the bush. They fight.
Do you have a pet wallaby?
No pet wallabies (laughs).
What are those things like?
They’re like kangaroos, but just smaller.
How about a platypus? Have you heard of them? Don’t they live down there?
(Laughs) Yeah, they’re here. We’re got them on our 20-cent piece, our coin. I’ll have to bring one over.
Have you ever met an Aborigine? What are they like?
Yeah, lots. Some of them are angry, some aren’t. They’re all cool.
Do they speak English?
Yeah, but they’ve got their own language.
How did you encounter them?
They’ve got areas where you can go see a whole bunch of Aboriginal stuff, and what they’re doing.
What do you like most about Australia?
I don’t know. It’s where I grew up, I guess.
Have you spent much time in New Zealand?
Yeah, I’ve been there once--two or three years ago. That was good. It’s pretty much the same sort of deal as Australia, but they just speak a little funnier.
What did you do over there?
Just did some demos.
Tony E. mentioned that sometimes you call him up when you’re shagging a girl. He says he can hear all of this noise in the background.
(Laughs) No, he keeps calling me! He seems to call me every time I’ve got a girl. Last time, I put him on the phone with her.
All right, Cale. Thanks for the interview. I think that pretty much covers it for now. Pop the boot.
